About

DiSEA is an international registry of databases on research datasets. It allows finding a specific data bank, or suggesting another one.

It’s a joint-venture between six Spanish universities: Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Universitat de València, Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Ramon Llull,Universidad Católica de Valencia y Universidad de Murcia.

The methodology used to collect deposits and data bank has been doing searches on differents sources. We reviewed differents papers from databases Web of Knowledge, Scopus, CSIC and LISA.  The key words used were "data sharing", "reuse", "data curation", "research data" and "data repositories".

This works cited deposits like DART (Treolar, 2006), ARROW (Payne y Treolar 2006), DRYAD (Greenberg, 2009), Protein Data Bank and GenBank (Martínez-Uribe y Macdonald, 2009) and other works cited collection of repositories.

From policies of copyright of scientific publishers regarding supplementary materials, we’d obteined the recomended deposits of data. Also, consulting ROAR (Registry of Open Access Repositories) and OpenDoar (Directory of Open Access Repositories) was possible identify digital archives which store research data.

Data bank classification is based on  the Essential Science Indicators knowledge areas, from Web of Knowledge: Agricultural Science, Biology and Chemistry, Chemistry, Clinical Medicine, Computer Science, Economics and Bussines, Engineering, Environment Ecology, Geoscience, Immunology, Material Science, Mathematics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Multidisciplinary, Neuroscience and Behaviour, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physics, Plant and Animal Science, Psychiatry / Psychology, Social Science General, Space Science.
